Closing the Till Procedure

Objective

This SOP outlines the steps required to properly close the till at the end of the night, ensuring accurate financial reporting and store closure.

Key Steps

 

Step 1: Access the Till

  • Locate 'Till 1' on the register.
  • Click the arrow to access the till options.

 

Step 2: Close the Till

  • Select 'Close Till' from the options.

 

Step 3: Count the Register

  • Switch the display to 'Denomination'.
  • Count the cash in the register.

 

Step 4: Record Card Transactions

  • Ensure the total cash matches the expected amount.
  • Enter the total card transactions (e.g., $62.01) into the system.

 

Step 5: Verify the Total

  • Confirm that the final number displayed is zero.
  • If not, recheck the counts for discrepancies.

 

Step 6: Transfer Card Amount to Bank

  • Input the card transaction amount to be transferred to the bank.
  • Click 'Save' to record the transaction.

 

Step 7: Finalize the Closure

  • Click 'Submit' to finalize the closure.
  • Select 'Close' to complete the process.

  • Double-check all amounts before finalizing to avoid discrepancies.
  • Ensure all transactions are accounted for before closing the till.
